Man-PACK: Not just a plain ordinary bag!

I will post photos and video later, I just wanted to get this posted ASAP, because the Kickstarter Campaign ends on Thursday.

When I got my Nexus 7 last year, I wanted to find a way to carry it with me out of the house.  There had to be a carrying bag out there that was suitable and masculine. Ladies have their purses. My wife can fit everything in her purse. I think Jimmy Hoffa is in there!  My wife is from Detroit. Hmmm… I wonder…. Okay, maybe not Jimmy Hoffa, but she can fit a lot in there, including her Kindle, which she takes everywhere.

I saw the Man-PACK via some advertising and thought that it would be just the thing I needed to transport my Nexus 7 and probably some other things.  I decided to pick one up.  Now before I go any further, those of you that have followed my other reviews know that I always give a full disclosure statement.  A majority of the Nexus 7 cases I have reviewed have been furnished to me by the manufacturer for the purpose of writing a review.  In this case (no pun intended), I did purchase the Man-PACK.  The creator of the Man-PACK, Aaron Tweedie, lives in my town. I met him in person and I purchased a Man-PACK from him.

Now that I’ve had the opportunity to review six different cases for the Nexus 7, I just wanted to give some brief thoughts about each case.  I will link to each of the reviews here on my blog.

NOTE: This entry was originally written in January 2013. I am just now getting around to posting this. 🙂

REVIEW: Portenzo BookCase

Portenzo, located just outside of St. Louis, makes high quality, premium cases for the Nexus 7.  The case I reviewed is the BookCase, but there are other varieties available. Each Portenzo case is handmade in St. Louis, Missouri. Each case is made-to-order. They don’t start making your case until you place your order.  You will need to visit their webpage in order to see all the color choices and options available. There are many to choose from.

REVIEW: Speck Products FitFolio case for the Nexus 7

Speck FitFolio case for the Nexus 7

Are you looking for a folio case that will provide adequate protection to your Nexus 7, but not add too much bulk? Then consider the FitFolio by Speck Products. Speck is the first Nexus 7 case manufacturer that I have actually seen in a retail store.  The other day, while strolling through my local Walmart, I did see Speck cases on the shelf.  I did not see a case specifically for the Nexus 7, but since this is a fairly new product, hopefully it is just a matter of time before we see it in stores.  I also saw it listed on OfficeDepot’s website.

I am a member of several online communities and the Speck FitFolio is one of the cases that is mentioned as a must have case.  After using the FitFolio for the past week, I have to agree.  This case is constructed of a vegan leather cover, which is attached firmly to a plastic shell.  The cover does have a soft interior to protect the Nexus 7 from being scratched up.  Unlike other cases that use an elastic strap or a magnet in order to keep the case closed, the FitFolio has a plastic clasp that fits over the end of the plastic hard shell case.  I really like the clasp and how it makes the case easily opened and closed.
